Spell: Vasant Panchami

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Color of the day: Ivory
Incense of the day: Hyssop

Today is Vasant Panchami-Saraswati Day. Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of learning and knowledge. Beloved of students and teachers, her image appears in schools (from kindergarten through university) throughout India. Saraswati is also a goddess of the arts, and is often depicted playing the sitar. Her sacred animal is the swan. Vasant Panchami is Saraswati's birthday. The sacred color of the day is yellow. Today, her images and altars are draped in yellow, her worshippers wear yellow clothing, and yellow-tinged foods are given as gifts. Today is an excellent day to begin learning something new. In India, today is the day to teach children their first words. You can start a book club or a study group on Vasant Panchami.
