Saraswati is also a goddess of the arts, and is often depicted playing the sitar. Her sacred animal is the swan. Vasant Panchami is Saraswati's birthday. The sacred color of the day is yellow. Today, her images and altars are draped in yellow, her worshippers wear yellow clothing, and yellow-tinged foods are given as gifts. Today is an excellent day to begin learning something new.
