Spell: Attuning to Fire

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Now that we’ve passed the summer solstice, the days are gradually growing shorter. Although the heat and relaxed pace of the season may lull us into thinking that the days go on forever, from here on out we will lose a few minutes of daylight every day. In many Western magical systems, summer is associated with the element of fire. To make the most of these days while they are still long and warm, attune to the element of fire.

Sit before a lit candle, a campfire, or any other flame you can access comfortably. Gaze at it and relax, allowing yourself to feel its heat. Know that this elemental flame is part of you and say:

Powers of fire, lend me your gifts
of passion, spontaneity, and the
knowledge of my own True Will.
Be with me this day. So mote it be.

Safely extinguish the flame.
