It is the day after my birthday, and there's a year until it's my birthday again. I recognize the power of cycles in my life, and celebrate consciously working with them. Not just after times of trouble, but also after great excitement and joy, I am learning how to begin again. Whether it is used with the new moon cycle, a solar return, a birthday, or even the Gregorian calendar "new year," a cyclical process of conscious renewal is powerful. On dark paper, write names of people, places, things, and practices that no longer serve you. In a firesafe dish, burn the paper, saying: I release thee. On light-colored paper, write things that support, inspire, and renew you, saying: These uplift and honor me. Place the paper someplace where you will see it regularly, so you are reminded how to resource yourself more consciously every time you choose to begin again. |
