Using the Astral Sweep Technique

Introduction. This Out-of-Body procedure does not require, but can include, astral travel to distant destinations. Here is the seven-step procedure:

Step 1. Statement of Goals. For the focused form of the procedure, formulate your goals around a particular target situation or condition. You may, for instance, focus on a particular individual, a specific geographical setting, a certain event, or a given situation. For the open-ended form of the procedure, formulate your goals in general terms, thus allowing your clairvoyant faculty to select its own target situation and access any information related to it.

Step 2. Out-of-Body Induction. For this procedure, the recommended Out-of-Body induction strategy is called upward scan. While in a relaxed, reclining position, envision yourself surrounded and protected by the glow of empowering cosmic energy. Picture relaxation as a fog spreading slowly over your physical body from your feet upward until your body is fully enveloped. Envision the fog then slowly lifting from your body, with your consciousness rising gently with it. Once your consciousness is suspended, view your body resting comfortably below. Affirm:

"I am fully empowered and protected mentally, physically, and spiritually by the highest powers of the cosmos. I can return to my body at will by simply deciding to do so."

Step 3. Activating Out-of-Body Clairvoyance. Once the Out-of-Body state has been achieved, the metaphor of mountain climbing is introduced to activate clairvoyance. Envision yourself as a psychic explorer, slowly ascending an astral mountain from its base to its peak. Each step upward expands the scope of your clairvoyant powers. Allow yourself plenty of time to scale the mountain and experience the progressive release of your psychic potentials. When you finally reach the summit, your psychic scanning powers are at their peak.

Step 4. Clairvoyant Sweeping. As already noted, clairvoyant sweeping can be either open-ended or focused. For open-ended sweeping, survey the surrounding reality from your astral observation point at the mountain's peak. With your clairvoyant powers now fully activated and free of constrictions, you can probe the most distant realities and access the highest sources of knowledge. Allow your clairvoyant powers to gather relevant information from any source, zooming in for a closer look whenever necessary. For focused clairvoyant sweeping, center your scanning efforts on certain designated targets, and scan their surroundings for additional information as desired. Continue scanning until you gather the information you need.

Step 5. Astral Travel (Optional). Astral travel to distant destinations during scanning can be useful in gathering additional, highly detailed information, or in accessing higher astral planes. Travel can be initiated following either open-ended or focused sweeping by first centering your attention on the desired destination and then intentionally engaging it as a present reality. In the Out-of-Body state, intent alone is usually sufficient to engage even the most distant reality.

Step 6. The Return. Reuniting with your physical body is initiated by the simple intent to reunite with your body, then envisioning your body in its familiar surroundings, and giving yourself permission to re-engage it. The simple affiliation: I will now re-unite with my body, facilitates an easy re-entry. The return is concluded by focusing on various physical sensations and affirming: I am now at oneness with my body and the universe.

Step 7. Resolution and Reflection. Review the Out-of-Body experience, paying particular attention to the clairvoyant information derived from it. Reflecting on the experience, if only briefly, dramatically increases its empowering effects.

Summary of Purpose & Benefits: Cosmic survey, Locate lost animals & personal items, Survey criminal scenes.

Although Astral Sweep can be used to survey cosmic planes and initiate empowering interactions with them, it has many highly practical, down-to-earth applications. It is particularly useful in locating lost animals and personal items. A student trained in Astral Sweep decided to use the technique to locate a horse that had wandered into the countryside. Through astral surveying of the surrounding wilderness, he located the horse grazing peacefully with other horses in a remote wasteland. Another student, also trained in astral sweep, used the technique to recover a lost bracelet. Through astral sweep, she discovered the bracelet near a park bench where she had joined a friend for lunch the previous day.

Astral Sweep is also useful as a criminal investigative procedure for surveying crime scenes and gathering relevant information. In one case, a psychic consultant used the procedure to locate a kidnap victim being held for ransom. Using a combination of open-ended sweeping and focusing, the psychic located the mountain cabin where the victim was being held, and then zoomed in to gather critical information that led to a successful rescue.

Although clairvoyant scanning can occur using other less-specialized OBE procedures, Astral Sweep is often preferred because of its functional design and high degree of accuracy. Given even moderate practice, almost everyone will discover the practical benefits of this useful procedure.

Sensitive people have gotten a bum rap. We live in a world that doesn't embrace the values of sensitivity, so we get told that we are weak, unusual, touchy, and hard to please. The sad truth is that we hear these messages in many ways throughout our lives. Even if it is from a well-meaning teacher or parent who tries to "toughen us up," the crux... read this article
