Magickal Ritual Goals

The purpose of the rituals you compose in the practice of High Magick is psychological integration, otherwise known as Initiation. Your goal is to awaken, develop, cleanse, and unite your many parts into the Whole Person that is your potential. This is not the practical magic involved in Self-Help practices—the matters of "Money, Sex, and Power" as one occultist put it. You can expand those categories as you need: "Money" becomes questions of career, training, financing, contracts, success, buying a house, etc.; "Sex" includes romance, love, relationships, marriage, children, and so on; and "Power" is really the ability to be who you are.

Yet, all the elements are here. There is no absolute conflict between the realities of the outer world and those of the inner world. We are spiritual beings incarnated and living in a material world. We have the obligations of being co-creators to "make the world a better place." We're partners with the world spirit, and brothers and sisters to all living beings.

We are "gods in the making" and need to think of that as our life purpose without letting ego inflation hinder our ability to "listen" to not only our brothers and sisters walking this same path, but to the "whispers from eternity." You don't need an intermediary between the divinity within and the Divine itself so long as ego kept in its proper place.
