Term: Four-Fold Breath

DEFINITION:
A popular meditative method of breathwork. The timing of the breathing is all relative. Inhale to a count of four, hold for a count of four, exhale for a count of four, and hold with empty lungs for a count of four. Repeat the entire process. The count can be fast or slow, but the focus is regular breathing. It can calm and “ground” a practitioner, inducing a relaxed state.
