Aisling: An Irish word that means “dream” or “vision.” It relates to the concept of a poetic vision that gained popularity in Ireland in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Although there are several variations in the way it is pronounced, the “s” is always pronounced “sh.” Thus, one pronunciation would be “ash-leen.”
