The Energy of Creation

This article was written by Bente Hansen

This is not a book I intentionally set out to write. Rather, it came about unexpectedly at a time in my life when I was least mentally prepared to begin the arduous process of serious writing. Having recently transplanted from Australia, I was still settling in and adjusting to the American way of life.

Prior to arriving in the States I had a busy and fulfilling practice in the healing arts field in Perth, Western Australia. Newly arrived in the States I found myself beginning all over again. My practice involves a number of modalities including energy healing, spiritual counseling and workshop facilitation. One day as I was preparing for a workshop on wellness I had a keen awareness that the workshop content actually contained sufficient information for a book. Along with this awareness came an epiphany that the workshop content comprised a totally holistic approach to healing, encapsulating facets that contribute to wellness and healing on all levels.

In my years of working as a healing arts practitioner I have seen many clients with a vast range of conditions, all seeking healing. In many instances, no sooner would one condition be “healed” than another would surface. This resulted in my questioning the validity and value of the healing process. After experiencing the epiphany, I realized that for healing to last it had to occur on all levels — physical, emotional, mental and spiritual — and that involvement by the recipient in the healing process was essential to its success. In reality, we all have the power to heal ourselves, yet all too often that responsibility has been abrogated for a whole host of reasons.

Personally, I have been on a quest for over 30 years to maintain optimal health, right up until the time I choose to depart this life. From an early age, I would mentally see a vision of myself, in my 80s, being agile and mentally fit. Upon entering the healing arts field I quickly learned that not everyone shares this vision! Clients who seek healing have been wonderful teachers for me, as they have enabled me to see so much more of the human condition. Through their experiences I have learned that the will can be indomitable, that fear creates what is feared, that the divine spark within us is ever present and that hope exists even when it shouldn’t be there.

Writing Process

Having had this epiphany, the next step was to “find” the common thread in all the learning I had acquired in my years of practicing the healing arts. It quickly became apparent that energy was the common link in the many areas I envisaged could be explored in one book, especially considering that over the years I had been privileged to “see” (with my third eye) the structure of energy. This structure was shown time and again during healing sessions, and so I gradually came to understand how this energy structure functions (on a very simplistic level).

The actual writing process wasn’t difficult (as I’d imagined it would be). Once seated at the computer the words would spill out, often surprising me by the rate at which I was able to express the valuable learning I had acquired over the years of working with delightful clients. Most of the initial manuscript was written in winter. I would sit at my desk looking out at pristine snow and tall ponderosa pines. Winter is definitely a time of hibernation, and it’s also a wonderful time to curl up with creativity and inspiration!

Energy: The Source of All We Create

The New World of Self-Healing is not intended to be a comprehensive resource for any one particular aspect of healing and wellness. Rather, it incorporates information on diet, exercise, the power of positive thinking, meditation, reality creation, spiritual awareness, etc. with the underlying premise that energy is the basis of everything. Without it there would be no existence.

In this book I have attempted to demystify the subtleties and patterning of energy, thereby assisting the reader to better understand how reality is created and can be changed, if so desired. Information shared in the book assists the reader to come to an awareness of how healing actually occurs on an energetic level, for it is at the energetic level that we create both our illnesses and our state of wellness.

Underlying the theme of energy throughout the book is the encouragement of individual empowerment. The book clearly demonstrates that we are responsible for whatever occurs in our lives, as we are energy and continually create with energy. When we understand the level of empowerment we actually have, and not what we think we have, we are then in a powerful position to truly live a life of inspiration, passion, harmony and wellness!
