| Trees have roots that travel deep into the earth and branches that reach high into the air. As such, they're often considered to be connected not only to the land but also to the heavens (or Overworld) and the Underworld. Before asking for magical assistance from a tree or harvesting parts of the tree, it is a good idea to establish a rapport with it.
To connect with a tree, simply touch it-the leaves, bark, branches, etc.-and send your energy into the tree gently so that it can evaluate your intentions and nature. Come to the tree with humility and honesty. I know this sounds silly, but the vibration of the tree will react to your energy. Speak to the tree, explaining your need. If you feel accepted, then gather only what you need and leave a gift in return. If you feel rejected, it's best to leave the tree alone. |
