Spell: What Lies Beneath: Invoking the Element of Water

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

What lies beneath the water, that powerful elemental linked to our emotions? Befriend this spirit with a waterside ritual. Stand at the edge of a body of water (or use a bowl of water). Sing or chant:

"What lies beneath the surface
Is what lies beneath my skin.
There is water and me.
It is my kin."

Build a small tower of stones or shells in the water, or make a chain of flowers or leaves and toss it in as an offering to the life that lies beneath the rippling surface. Dip your hands in the water and sprinkle it over your head three times. If you perform the ritual with a bowl of water, tip any plants, stones, and remaining liquid onto the earth after you've blessed yourself.
