With autumn comes the harvest. Farmers gather the last fruits, vegetables, and grains. Food is canned, frozen, and otherwise preserved for winter use. Craft materials are gathered to provide activities in inclement weather. This is a season for the final flurry of work, and then rest to take stock of accomplishments. For this meditation, choose any fall item to use as a focus, such as a bundle of multicolored corn, some decorative gourds, or a sprig of vividly colored leaves. Sit in a comfortable spot and look at your focus. Say: I honor the season of harvest and its hard work. Think about projects you worked on during recent months and all that you put into them. Then say: I honor the fruits of the harvest and their bounty. Meditate on your accomplishments and the rewards that they bring you. Finally say: I honor the end of the harvest and the time of rest. Mentally set aside the busyness of the recent months and think about something you will do to rest and recover. |
