Spell: In Honor of Women

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Color of the day: Pink
Incense of the day: Cypress

In Christian Catholic tradition, today is the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. This day the mother of Jesus took her seat in heaven. Some tales say that this marked her death, while others say that she was taken, body and all, into the heavens. This is a day to commemorate all mothers and the sacrifices women make for the continued health and survival of their families, and is even a public holiday in France, Spain, Cameroon, and Guatemala. A fitting way to commemorate the day is to light a blue candle or a blue novena candle with Mary on it (you can purchase them from a grocery store). Rub a little olive oil on the candle before burning it (olive oil was used to anoint royalty) and speak your own prayer to the divine mother. This is a day to pray for women activists to find peace and success in their efforts.
